Welcome to the Shelby County Education Association
Let me start by offering my sincere thanks to all of you for your continued support and advocacy on behalf of the children of Shelby County. As your SCEA president, I look forward to working with you and for you during the next two years.
SCEA is ready to assist you with any problems or questions you may have. We may easily be reached by e-mail or a phone call. If you need immediate help, each building has Association Representatives who will answer questions and help solve building level problems. We are proud of our school system and SCEA’s role in working to improve the education of our students, our system and public education.
I would encourage each of you to join your professional organization and become actively involved. Participate in professional development opportunities, volunteer by serving on SCEA committees, stuffing envelopes, making phone calls, contacting legislators and attending school board and county commission meetings. We must also become politically active. We want to make sure we have education friendly legislators and commissioners representing us in the political arena. Remember that politics affects all phases of our lives.
Thank you for your commitment to making our schools better for children, advancing public education and assuring that every child has an opportunity to receive a quality education. We are striving to educate our children, engage our parents and empower our schools. This can only be done with your help. We believe that together we can maintain our traditions and keep Shelby County Schools at the forefront of quality and innovation public education.
Feel free to learn more about the benefits that are available to you because of your SCEA membership, and please consider becoming more involved in your association at the local and state level.
If you have concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact your SCEA president, Sammy Jobe at 901-386-8771 or our TEA UniServ Coordinator, Zandra Foster at 901-377-9472.
